Here at Abrusci’s Coffee, we focus on hard work and giving back to the community, measuring our success through the radiant smiles of those who enjoy our coffee and the positive impact we make on the world around us. In his effort to uphold this mission, we are beyond proud to announce the recent recognition of our founder, Sean Abrusci, as the 2024 SCBA Carrey Family Humanitarian of the Year.
In conversation during the award ceremony, Sean was told by Neil Carrey that, "when he dies, he doesn't want to be remembered by what he did or accomplish, instead he wants his gravestone to read, 'Here lies a good man.'"
The Carrey Family Humanitarian of the Year award recognizes a small business owner who has gone above and beyond in committing his or her time or support to charitable activities that make the world a better place for people in need. From his time in the Marines through his time in law enforcement, Sean has taken his family's work ethic, values, and legacy alongside his commitment to the community to give back to local veteran and first responder communities, as well as nonprofit organizations and the communities where we source our beans.
Through his travels and humanitarian work, Sean has recognized the way in which coffee brings people together and has gone above and beyond in connecting coffee with giving back to the community. Thus far, Sean has supported and formed relationships with organizations such as Operation Jersey Cares, Reps for Responders, Warrior Strong, and Operation Pay It Forward. Through the award, the Carrey Foundation along with the SCBA donated a total of $6,200 to Reps for Responders, helping to support the organization's mission of improving the physical and emotional survivability skills of first responders so that they can make responsible decisions both on the job and in their personal lives.
